Jay Michi


Jay is a Partner at Jensen Law. He has been an integral part of the Jensen Law team since 2012. Prior to moving to Kamloops in 2011, he worked as an Executive Director in the nonprofit sector in Calgary, Alberta.

Jay has successfully conducted countless trials and appeared as lead counsel at every level of court in the Province of British Columbia, including the Court of Appeal. He has also appeared in the Court of Queen's Bench in both Alberta and Saskatchewan on consequential Controlled Drugs and Substances Act cases. While his focus is now on defending clients facing complex criminal matters, including sexual assault and homicide, he has also practiced in the areas of administrative, employment and personal injury law. 

Jay has been a member of the BC Association of Legal Aid Lawyers (A.L.L.) since its inception. He has been on the Board of Directors of A.L.L. since 2019.

Jay is also a member of the Kamloops Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC (TLABC).

In November of 2023, Jay was elected to serve a two-year term as the Bencher for Kamloops District - representing the region at the Law Society of British Columbia. The Law Society of BC is the regulatory authority and governing body for the legal profession in the province of British Columbia. Benchers serves as governors, regulators, adjudicators and advisors to the practice, with a view to protecting the public. Jay takes this multi-faceted role seriously, and is honoured to have been elected by the lawyers of Kamloops District for the 2024 - 2025 term.
